Cortese was born in New Egypt, New Jersey to Italian American parents. She has been categorized as a dwarf since the age of four. She was best friends with fellow housemate Nicole Polizzi before joining the show. She works as a dental assistant. Cortese became part of the reality TV series Jersey Shore.
