After a night of partying, teenager Bobby Moore (Blair Jasin) and his friends are killed when a truck hits their car while driving over a bridge. After the accident, Bobby's father, Shaw Moore (Dennis Quaid), the local reverend, blames that their deaths were caused by rock music and dancing. He then leads the Bomount City Council to put a ban on the genre, as well as dancing, as the town installs a curfew for anyone under the age of 18. Three years later, Ren McCormack (Kenny Wormald) arrives in Bomout via Greyhound bus. He has come to live with his Aunt and Uncle, who is a local car dealer, and cousins because his mother has recently died of leukemia and his father went AWOL after she got sick. Ren is revealed to be quite a good mechanic. His uncle tells him if he can fix an old car, it's his. With much difficulty, Ren manages to fix the old thing up and install his iPod. While he drives the car through the countryside while playing his music, the sheriff pulls him over. Ren is given a court summon for "disturbing the peace." The next day, Ren and his family go to church. After the service, they meet Moore and his wife Vi, as well as their daughter Ariel (Julianne Hough). Ariel asks if she can stay at her friend, Rusty's house for the night to work on their "science project." They actually go to the races to see Ariel's boyfriend, Chuck Cranston, race. CAST: In October 2008, Kenny Ortega was announced as director but left the project a year later after differences with Paramount and the production budget. Peter Sollett was also hired to write the script. Dylan Sellers, Neil Meron and Craig Zadan served as producer; Zadan having produced the original Footloose. In 2010, Craig Brewer came on to re-write the script after Crawford and Ortega left the project and also served as director. The writer of the original film, Dean Pitchford, also co-wrote the screenplay. Amy Vincent worked as cinematographer. TAGS: Add Comment
