File: Part Of Me
Katy Perry: Part of Me (advertised as Katy Perry: Part of Me 3D) is an upcoming 2012 3D documentary-concert film centering on singer Katy Perry.
It will be released in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom and Ireland on July 5, 2012. According to the official website, the film received a "PG rating for some suggestive content, language, thematic elements, and brief smoking".
This film tells the story of the trajectory of Perry's career as gospel singer Katheryn Hudson until the present day as pop singer and global superstar Katy Perry, bearing testimony from Katy (real name Katheryn) about her childhood, talking about the Teenage Dream era, with scenes from backstage of her last world tour while trying to take time to resolve personal problems, including her divorce from British comedian Russell Brand. The interim scenes document her last world tour, the California Dreams Tour, and were recorded on November 23, 2011 at Staples Center, Los Angeles.
"Pepsi is a brand at the forefront of pop culture and this partnership with Katy's film will deliver fans an exclusive one-of-a-kind experience at one of the biggest movie events of the Summer, starring one of the one today's hottest musical artists. This is one major way Pepsi will invite and inspire our fans to Live for Now."
On March 7, 2012, Perry announced via Twitter that she and Paramount Pictures will release a part-biopic, part-concert film entitled Katy Perry: Part of Me in summer of 2012. She tweeted: "FINALLY, my MOVIE is coming out with Paramount this summer! It's called "KATY PERRY: PART OF ME" Presented In 3D!". Perry told MTV News that the film was the closing to the Teenage Dream era and explained what to expect, stating, "It's closing the chapter on Teenage Dream, but it's giving you such an inside perspective This film, you're going to see it from my best friend/buddy perspective, you're going to see exactly what I mean and feel and think about everything." Perry stated that she went through a big professional and personal life-changing journey which she wants to show her fans. According to Perry in a interview with Teen Vogue, Perry said that the reason she wanted to create the movie was that she was inspired by the film Madonna: Truth or Dare (1991). She said "I wanted to do that too, to capture a snapshot of who I am now so that I can remind myself what I've lost if I ever do become totally jaded."
One golden ticket to the movie premiere was placed in a random physical copy of Teenage Dream: The Complete Confection. The first trailer of the film was aired during the 2012 Kids' Choice Awards. On March 31, 2012, Perry announced via Twitter that the film would be released during the weekend of July 4. She tweeted: "Now...are you READY to go see MY film PART OF ME in 3D JULY 4th WEEKEND?!". A trailer of the film was released on April 2, 2012 on iTunes Store worldwide. Perry teamed up with Pepsi to promote the film. The partnership includes co-branded television and radio spots, digital advertising and retail displays. All elements of the campaign will feature Pepsi's new global tag line, "Live for Now". The Pepsi effort will offer consumers the chance to win trips to attend the world premiere of the film in Los Angeles, which will include a live performance by Perry. Perry also appeared on The Graham Norton Show on June 8, 2012 to promote her new movie. Perry will walk the Pink Carpet at the premiere of her new movie in Sydney, Australia.
